Recreation
Residents will be allowed (1) hour of large muscle activity daily. There shall be a posted recreation and structured leisure schedule. A wide variety of activities are available to you unless you have a special restriction. You will find it easier to show a positive attitude and get along with others, if you participate as much as possible. Participation is expected in the normative culture program.
Counseling
Both individual and group counseling are available to everyone. If you need counseling because of a special problem, ask staff and they will refer you to the mental health specialist.
Hair Care Services
Services will be provided thru our volunteer services. You have the right to determine the length of your hair, except for reasons of health and safety. Haircut services will only be provided for conventional haircuts.
Food Services
You will be provided three nutritionally well-balanced meals each day. The USDA guidelines will be used to prepare the menus. Food will not be used as a disciplinary measure. We will make special provisions for special diets as follows:
1) Therapeutic Diet
A diet to support special medical conditions that require the additions or elimination of certain foods. An example would be a diabetic diet or one to treat high blood pressure.
2) Religious Diet
A diet to support someone’s religious beliefs or values that require the addition or elimination of certain foods. An example would be pork.
3) Food Allergies
This does not refer to dislikes for certain foods but rather those foods that create some negative physical reaction in your body that is damaging to your health. An example can be peanuts.
If you have a need for a special diet, please inform the nurse within 24 hours of admission.
